Ashley, a Mexican-American teenager living in California, dreams of graduating high school and going to college. But when ICE raids threaten her family, Ashley is forced to become the breadwinner, working days in the strawberry fields and nights at a food processing company. About The Team

Emily Cohen Ibañez is a Latinx filmmaker based in Oakland who earned her doctorate in Anthropology (2011) with a certificate in Culture and Media at New York University. Her film work pairs lyricism with social activism, advocating for labor, environmental, and health justice. Her debut feature documentary Bodies at War/MINA (2015) premiered at El Festival de Cine de Bogotá and screened in 22 municipalities most affected by landmines in Colombia. Her short films reach wide audiences internationally with distribution through The Guardian and The Intercept online. Emily was a Fulbright scholar in 2007-2008 and is a recipient of grants from The National Science Foundation, JustFilms Ford Foundation, Firelight Media Doc Lab, 4th World Indigenous Media Lab, and the Berkeley Film Foundation Saul Zaentz Award. FRUITS OF LABOR is her second feature film.
