The island of El Roblito in Nayarit Mexico, surrounded by jungles and an open sea, appears to be inhabited only by children. El Roblito seems like a pure and idyllic place that lacks adult supervision - until the children’s actions slowly reveal signs of the adults’ repressive behavior and the negative influences that loom over their childhood.
Bruno Santamaría is a director and cinematographer from the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica. Margarita (2016) was his debut as director. He has worked with artists like Ai Wei Wei (Alive - 2020), Zita Erffa (The Best Thing You Can Do With Your Life - 2018), and Sandra Luz López (Artemio - 2017). Recently premiered his documentary Things We Dare Not Do (2020), winning the award for best documentary at the Lima Film Festival and the Best New Directors at the Latin Film Festival of Vancouver. His work has been shown in Sundance, Berlinale, Hot Docs, Sheffield, Open City, Camerimage, FICCI, FICM, among others.
