Synopsis:

Debbie & Me & Reality TV is an experimental, reflexive documentary film exploring the shifting sociopolitical compass of the 45-season reality television show Survivor through archival footage, critical interviews, and interwoven personal stories of the director’s longtime pursuit of being cast on the show as a work of performance art.

Angela Washko

Angela Washko is an experimental media artist and filmmaker who creates new forums for discussions about feminism in spaces frequently hostile towards women, femmes, and non-binary people. A recipient of the United States Artists Fellowship, Creative Capital Award, Franklin Furnace Performance Fund, and the Jury Award for Best Documentary Feature at the American Film Festival, San Francisco Documentary Film Festival, and Buffalo International Film Festival, Washko's practice has been highlighted in The New Yorker, Time Magazine, The Guardian, ArtForum, Art in America, The New York Times and more. Angela Washko is an Associate Professor of Art at Carnegie Mellon University.
