Synopsis:

Five years after surviving a life-changing fall from a tree, renowned rainforest ecologist Nalini Nadkarni confronts echoes of trauma across three generations of her family tree, unearths her own tangled roots, and plants new seeds with her children.

Andrew Nadkarni

Andrew Nadkarni is a multiracial filmmaker based in Brooklyn, NY. His films explore how race, gender, caste, and trauma affect our identity, and the way values can be passed down across generations through storytelling. He most recently produced the indie feature Actual People, which premiered at the 2021 Locarno Film Festival. He also served as an associate producer on the film Bel Canto, starring Julianne Moore, and a production coordinator on Amazon’s Modern Love and Comedy Central’s Awkwafina is Nora from Queens. A Film & TV graduate of NYU Tisch, Andrew has worked across the United States, Japan, and Mexico.

Swetha Regunathan

Swetha is an Indian-American filmmaker with an MFA from the Graduate Film program at NYU Tisch. She produced If There Is Light, a short documentary which premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival and streamed on Hulu. She was selected for the Cine Qua Non Storylines Lab and the inaugural 1497 South Asian Writers Lab with her feature in development, Sundarbans. She was also an IFP Marcie Bloom Fellow. She has received awards from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and Bluecat Screenplay Contest, while her writing has appeared in Huffington Post, and she also has a doctorate in English Literature.

Katie Schiller

Katie is a New York based filmmaker. She produced Shiva Baby, acquired by Utopia Distribution, which was an official selection at SXSW and Toronto International Film Festival. She also served as a co-producer on the feature Dating and New York, which recently premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was acquired by IFC Films. Katie is currently serving as a co-producer for a Netflix documentary series and is in development on both narrative and non-fiction projects. Katie previously worked in scripted television development at Topic Studios. She is an alumna of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
